Conform – From My Heart
Do you feel like you need to conform?
To what other people think you should
be or do? To a formula for success in
your life or your career? To what you
think you should be or how you should
act?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve internalized
in my life over the last year has been to
focus on my inner voice and knowing, even
when it defies “conventional wisdom” or
commonly accepted best practices.
It’s been especially challenging for me when
my authentic knowing contradicts what
I think I should or even want to do, much
less what someone else or an “expert” thinks
I should be doing. It’s been a challenge for
me to let my authentic voice and ideas flow
(and to take congruent action) rather than
trying to conform.
An example of this is my weekly emails
to you. At times, I’ve wanted to present
myself as a polished shining example
of perfect consciousness – rather than
sharing my flaws and challenges and
keeping it real. I’ve also been concerned
with modulating my message to make it
more accessible to a wider audience
rather than telling it like I see it.
In the end, my willingness to tell the truth
in my writing and in many other areas
of my life has been about loving myself,
honoring and trusting my truth, my
authentic voice, and my inner guidance.
Where in your life will you stop conforming
and let your truth shine, no matter what
you – or anyone else thinks?
That’s it for this week…From My Heart.
