What’s Important to You?
As I’ve been sitting with you and rest of the community in mediation and embodied resonance this week, one question keeps coming up to the forefront: What’s important to you in your spiritual journey right now?
I would love to hear from you—what’s important to you right now in your spiritual journey? One of the reasons I’ve been thinking about this question is that my answer to it has been changing. As I reflect back on it, it changes with some regularity, as whatever is coming up to be integrated becomes the focus of my consciousness.
Over the last twelve or thirteen years, there have been two primary areas of focus: My separate self and my whole self.
I don’t think I realized there was a difference between the two or that there were two aspects of focus until I started waking up spiritual speaking. It was only then, that I began to become aware of my whole self and its focus.
If I distill this part of my developmental journey down into the major building blocks of awareness, I can see how my answer and focus to the question (what’s important to you?) has shifted.
My separate self’s agenda has generally been focused on acquiring, achieving, and experiencing. Whereas my whole self’s agenda has generally been focused on deeper intimacy with God, and being who I really am.
For much of my life, I was focused on understanding or dreaming up the agenda of my separate self, and then trying to figure out how to make it happen.
Once I began waking up the percentages started to shift, eventually I got to the point where it was not a question of OR – but an exploration of AND.
And lately, I’ve been seeing my separate self as a goose that keeps laying golden eggs, which show up as those aspects of my life where I’m holding onto patterns or processes that no longer serve. I’ve spent a lot of energy in recent years exploring how the focus of these patterns can be integrated into my whole self’s focus. Now I’m appreciating the process of integration from a different perspective as the patterns themselves are integrating and opening up an even deeper experience of embodied resonance. I’m excited to share more about this in next week’s frequently asked spiritual question video.

For me, the answer to this question is: embodiment. When I’m embodied, everything else is unlocked, from being more fully present, to a more complete experience of my wholeness, which in turn queues up the latest aspects of control for surrender, which in turn supports deeper integration. And that launches me deeper into the Divine Mystery of the gifts God expresses through me, my mission and more – which in turn supports and is supported by even deeper embodiment.
