Do you ever think of your life in terms of momentum?

Have you ever thought: I’m stuck here … or I have lots of momentum around this project, this idea, this relationship, or this business …

Yet how many times have you been at a point in your life where you felt like you were stuck or in serious challenge – only later to look back on that time as pivotal on your journey and transformation?

One lesson that I continue to embody and integrate is the lesson of the impermanence of perspective. It’s always changing. When I identify with the outward aspects of perspective, I end up frustrated. Whereas when I turn inward and continue exploring there, my sense of who I am and of the Divine continues to deepen no matter what else is happening.

Turning inward can be very challenging when you’re feeling like you’ve lost momentum and yet … in these moments I remember:

You are not the source of your momentum.

Though it moves through you just as a river moves through the field, the field is no more the source of the river than you are of your momentum. Think of the times in your life when you’ve experienced the most powerful sense of flow and freedom. Did these times arise from greater exertion of control and effort on your part? Or did they come from letting go of control?

You are the perfect vessel through which the Divine expresses.

Just as the field and the riverbed are the perfect container for the river to be in the world … you are already perfect. You were made for this purpose. Though you may often feel otherwise and resist, you are perfect exactly as you are. No further fluff and buff required – just the deep awareness of this truth: you are perfect exactly as you are right now.

The whole picture is too big to take in right now.

Your purpose, your soul’s trajectory, the true breadth and depth of your gifts, and so many other questions are bigger than this moment and your current perspective.

First you looked through a microscope at the inner workings of a flower, and you were in awe with the Divine expressing itself through nature. Then you looked at the plant, and saw something new that left you in even deeper awe and wonder. You took off from the planet and looked down on earth, for the first time seeing one whole organism, and you were left in profound wonder and awe. You turned your focus to the stars, and repeatedly you have been left speechless with tears in your eyes at the manifestation of God laid out in front of you with each new, more complete picture of what is.

And so it is with you. All these things are but a reflection of your true nature. So vast it defies all context. Always revealing itself in greater measure, the more you explore.

Be in Resonance.

Your natural state doesn’t require anything special. Strip away the noise – uncover your inner wholeness and be in resonance. No thinking or doing required … just be. Everything done from this place is done in alignment. And from here, the next step is clear. Take that step now, for the rest of the journey will reveal itself in due course.

Release Control.

Whatever remains of control, let it go. You are that and the resonance that is expressing itself through you is you. The Divine is becoming you and you are becoming the Divine. What could you possibly have over the Divine when it comes to bringing into being an experience of resonance? Let go of control completely and sink into Divine resonance.

And as you do, remember: you are not the source of your momentum …
