Do you ever find yourself feeling entitled?

This past week I discovered entitlement inside. It was a guest I wasn’t happy to welcome or acknowledge. Today I’ve been seeing the positive impact that has come from this discovery and I wanted to share it with you.

I’d like to think that I strike the perfect balance between owning my power, and coming from the place of service. After the awareness of the last week, I’m realizing that a seed of entitlement – even one buried deep inside – can impact how I show up and whether I’m in the place of serving others, or focused on serving myself.

I’ve recognized that my entitlement arises from the illusion of separation (I’ve felt cut off from others – which arises from feeling cut off from myself and the Divine). Recognizing this has been the first step to liberation. The next step is to viscerally experience my wholeness (I practice Beneath the Sand). Wholeness always leads to surrender. Wholeness –> Surrender –> Practiced Daily leads to the Experience of Spiritual Mastery.

What is Spiritual Mastery? One experience of Spiritual Mastery is living from the place of love and inner joy and peace. From the place of inner joy, love, and peace I naturally fall back into the place of serving once again.

There are so many ways that the illusion of separation can sneak up and bring suffering and pain into my life experience (the other two barriers to Spiritual Mastery are the disembodied soul – and giving away power).

All three barriers went for a dance in my world this week while listening to a polka called entitlement. That dance included frustration (giving away my power), as well as anger and unease (soul out of the body).

I was once interviewed on a radio program and the host asked me enthusiastically “Do you just life your entire life from a place of joy and grace?!” I responded “No! I’m a human being!!” and started laughing. The amount of time I spend caught in dissonance now rather than living in resonance is just about inverted (used to be 15% resonance 85% dissonance – now it’s the opposite though the percentages change from day to day). Being a human being means that the barriers to Spiritual Mastery are a regular part of our experience.

The question is: Can we recognize what’s stopping us from experiencing life from the place of love, joy, and grace? And if we can, do we know what to do about it?

Is there something stopping you from experiencing greater resonance in your life right now?

I’ve got my eye out for the polka band so I can recognize the music they play when the song starts playing next time.

That’s it for this week…From My Heart.

Peace,

Ken

PS – Warning: Keep your eye out too – this band may be on tour (if you didn’t know I used to be a sound engineer – so I know what a touring band looks like, LOL!). Sometimes they play the entitlement polka. But they also know the Illusion of Separation Shuffle, the Giving Away Your Power Ballad, and the Disembodied Soul Minuet. When they play it sounds good, and you’ll want to dance (at least I do when I hear them play).

PPS – Thanks for including me on your journey. It’s an honor I don’t want to take for granted. I want you to know I am grateful for the privilege of emailing you each week.

PPPS – If you have any spiritual questions that are challenging you, or that you’re curious about I’d love to hear from you. Post your comment below and tell me what’s on your mind.
